The Plants

This space is dedicated to the preservation of ancestral knowledge and the advancement of healing with traditional plant medicine. We are honored to steward these gifts of Creation and share some of what we are learning about them.

We're starting with some of our favorites and will be adding more as we go. We also welcome community contributions to this knowledge base. Please avail yourself of the contact form on the home page to contribute herbal monographs, additional information, or testimonials.

Arnica

Calendula

Calendula officinalis

This super star vulnerary shines in our Calendula infused oil, Calendula tincture, Trauma Rescue Formula, and nursery plants.

Comfrey

Symphytum officinale

Deep green healing magic comes from True Comfrey in our herbal infused oil. The nursery plants are a wonderful addition for homestead gardens, providing nutritious animal fodder.

Catnip

Nepeta cataria

This soft-leaved sweetheart is a balm for the nervous system in our relaxing nighttime tea blend, Restful Sleep. Also available as an easy-to-grow nursery plant.

Elder

Sambucus canadensis

Magical Elder flowers grace both a simple tincture and tea blend for immunity and detox support. We make syrup from the berries and offer 1-2 year-old nursery plants. Elder is a beautiful part of the medicinal landscape.

Feverfew

Tanacetum parthenium

This cheerful plant is a potent mover of stagnation. We extract and preserve its medicine in a simple fresh plant tincture. The nursery plants are delightful and will self seed in the landscape.

Hyssopus officinalis

An ancient revered cleanser and delicious tea herb radiates benefits in our respiratory support tea blend and is a gorgeous, low-maintenance nursery plant.

Lemon Balm

Melissa officinalis

Calming and uplifting, this fragrant and familiar friend shines in both our Herbal Sunshine and Restful Sleep tea blends. We also offer Lemon Balm as a simple tincture or nursery plant.

Lobelia inflata

An eastern North American native and powerful anti-spasmotic. We preserve our Lobelia fresh in tincture form.

Lavender

Lavandula angustifolia

True Lavender is a fragrant delight infused in a luxurious-feeling herbal body oil for skin healing and stress reduction.

A soother of dry, inflamed tissues, this velvety beauty is found in our respiratory tea blend, a simple tincture, and as a nursery plant.

Milky Oats

Avena sativa

A premier nervine trophorestorative. Gentle, yet powerful, our fresh preserved Milky Oats tincture is good medicine for healing from the prolonged stress of uncertain times.

Oregano

Origanum heracleoticum

Warm and wonderful Greek Oregano is powerful medicine. It spices up our simple tincture and herbal infused oil for immune support. We also offer it as a nursery plant.

Peppermint

Mentha piperita

This famously tasty tea herb is a potent healer for the gut/brain system and it shines in our Herbal Sunshine tea blend and as a nursery plant for the home apothecary.
